Alphabet Ball Game
Objective: This games helps children to work on their letters ( graphemes) and vocabulary
Materials: Ball (soccer, tennis ball, basket ball, balloon, or beach ball), sharpie, game can be played in the classroom, park, gym or any spacious area
Activity/Procedure: Write the letters of the alphabet on the ball. Teacher throws the ball and says a letter the receiver (student) that catches the ball has to respond with a word that starts with that letter. Student must try to avoid using the same word twice
Differentiate Options: Teachers can replace the letters with rhyming words where the teacher calls out a word throws the ball to a student and have the student say a corresponding rhyming word such as bat/cat
Assessment Options: Teachers can through this fun and interactive game assess students ability to make the relationship between letters of the alphabet and spoken sound
Age Span: Preschool- Kindergarten ages 3-6 years old
Justification of Choice: I like that this activity works on letter knowledge and vocabulary as well as gross motor skills and coordination.

DIAGRAPH WHEELS
Objective: The purpose of this game is to introduce a fun and interactive way to build vocabulary using digraphs such as qu, sh, th, ch, ph etc.
Materials: Construction paper, poster board, clothes pins or paper clips
Activity/Procedure: Teachers can cut the construction paper or poster boards into circles. Place several pictures around the circle wheel of things associated with the vocabulary digraphs you have chosen to focus on with your students for instance place the ch digraph in the middle of the wheel the outer circle sound contain pictures such as a chair, chocolate, chilli, cheese etc. throw in a few picture without the ch diagraph. Have the students use the clothes to attach to the correct pictures with the ch diagraph. You can make this activity self checking by simply drawing a happy face, star, or dot on the back of the card where the correct answers are. Once the students clip their pins to their diagraph choices they can flip it over and check their answers.
